Project description

Patients with mutations in voltage-gated sodium (NaV) channels report a dramatic increase in itch. We seek to understand the role of NaV1.9 in transmitting itch signals from the skin to the spinal cord. Completion of our goals will offer a starting point to explain the mechanism underlying NaV channel mutations that cause pathological itch, a necessary step to design therapeutics.
