Project description
Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork conducted with asylum seekers and refugees in London and
Kent, this thesis examines how policies and practices of the state, corporations and landlords lead
to housing dispossession and displacement in Britain, while profits amass. It finds that the
organised abandonment in asylum housing, often informed by structural racism, puts residents’
health and lives at risk.
