Project description

The SmART+ platform (Precision) is a state-of-the-art focal irradiation system that mimics clinical radiotherapy and imaging. It is a perfect X-ray irradiator to test novel and current treatments in combination with radiation (translational studies on radiotherapy/drugs/immunotherapy combinations) in preclinical models such as mice, rats, cells and patient-derived organoids (https://precisionxray.com/small-animal-igrt/). The application has been written by Prof. Dr. Peter Vandenabeele (PI, Cell Death and Inflammation Unit, Inflammation Research Center, VIB-UGent) and Prof. Dr. Ir. Ans Baeyens (PI, Radiobiology lab, UGent) . Prof. Ans Baeyens is responsible for the practical management of the heavy equipment. The SmART+ platform (Precision) will be integrated in the Infinity lab (Prof. Dr. Ir. Christian Vanhove). All labs are part of the Cancer Research Institute Ghent (CRIG).
