Projects
- VITAL: Vitiligo International Task force for an Agreed List of core data
- ACTIVE: A CollaboraTive Initiative of worldwide Vitiligo Experts and patients to define vitiligo activity
In the coming years, I aim to continue leading the ongoing and recently initiated projects pertaining to vitiligo.
These project are focusing on outcome measures, measurement instruments (project name: VITAL) and assessment of disease activity in vitiligo (project name ACTIVE).
VITAL
The ultimate goal of this project is to achieve a worldwide consensus on a standardized core dataset to be used in trials, clinical practice, and registries. The construction of these datasets and worldwide approval are the aims of this international collaborative vitiligo project. These datasets will define ‘WHAT’ to measure and will include both physician and patient reported outcomes measures as well as contextual factors. In addition, recommendation on ‘HOW’ and ‘WHEN’ to measure will be provided based on a selection of measurement instruments -according to the COSMIN quality criteria. This initiative will subsequently harmonize and standardize the collection of data within different settings. This project will ultimately allow better interpretation, comparison and pooling of results from different international centers and studies worldwide and will subsequently provide essential information related to the pathogenesis and management of the disease.
ACTIVE
The project aims to establish standardized criteria for defining disease activity and disease activity signs in vitiligo through a collaborative effort involving vitiligo experts and patients. By addressing key challenges in terminology, descriptions, and stratification, the project seeks to enhance consistency and accuracy in disease activity definitions. Through a multistakeholder consensus-building process, the project aims to develop clear and universally applicable definitions that will improve clinical management and research design in vitiligo. By fostering collaboration and engagement among stakeholders, the project aims to drive forward progress in understanding and addressing disease activity in vitiligo, ultimately improving patient care and treatment outcomes.
