Project description

This research is an analysis of the literary oeuvre of Bai Juyi (772-846), one of the most important authors of the multi-cultural Tang Dynasty (618-907). Through a comparison of his official texts and his exchange poetry with colleagues, the division line between the private and the public realm in the intellectual, political and religious milieu of the Tang Dynasty are researched.
