Based on exciting recent data of the promoters, it will be examined how peripheral viral infections may trigger a rapid neuroinflammatory response via neurons in the absence of viral replication in the brain.Next, it will be determined if repeated neuroinflammatory responses to peripheral viral insults may contribute to neurodegenerative diseases and neurological symptoms. This research may lead to targeted preventions.
