Project description

This STI will provide both in-depth theoretical background and hands-on experience for good practice in the production of the larval stages of freshwater fish, which is a bottleneck for the development of aquaculture in Kenya and in East Africa in general. Spelcial attention will be ginven to nutritional and microbiological aspects, which are crucial for success, but which are poorly understood and often overlooked. The STI aims at a maximal multipicator effect by targeting at trainees both from an academic and grom a vocational education context. The teaching program of this STI is in the hands of lecturers both from the North and from Kenya, which will result in maximal relevance and impact.
