Project description

Sustainability with attention to life on earth and human impact is a crucial topic in academic research and education. Oceans are one of the most important systems on our planet, responsible for important regulatory functions such as climate and food supply. In addition, they are under very high pressure, and research interest in the state of our oceans was largely underexposed until relatively recently, and was barely addressed in academic education. That is why, in collaboration with UGent colleagues from the faculty of political science, a project was started that aims to demonstrate how sustainability principles are included in marine education, which methods are used and how this can be improved. Furthermore, a number of online learning modules will be developed to promote sustainability principles in academic marine-oriented education
