Project description

In present-day communications, an emerging requirement is guaranteed and predictable network performance, both for novel applications (e.g., collaborative robotics, AR/VR, aerospace), and the evolution of existing applications (e.g., professional audio/video, industrial automation). Such applications need guaranteed ultra-low bounded latency together with ultra-reliability while maintaining a varying and application-dependent level of throughput.

Collectively, such applications are referred to as time-sensitive while a network’s capability to support them is known as time-sensitive networking (TSN). TSN was initially developed for wired Ethernet networks, but is being extended to the wireless domain.

In this area, we perform research on the realization of deterministic connected systems that involve wireless communication links. Innovations with respect to medium access control, protocol stacks, network monitoring and control as well as tigher application-network integration are studied.
