Project description

I am applying for this BOF grant to advance my research on rhetoric in early-modern Italian literature. Despite a number of excellent contributions, we still lack a comprehensive study of the subject.

Since the publication of my monograph on Sperone Speroni (Brill, 2018), my focus has been on rhetorical studies, with two additional book projects currently underway: Retorica reversa (Vecchiarelli, Roma) and Portrait(s) of a Queen (Legenda, Cambridge).

In my effort to reach a broader audience beyond academia, I plan to organize interdisciplinary events that merge literature and the arts, which will enrich my research through valuable feedback.

With the support of the BOF-funding, I intend to pursue a number of activities, including also short-time collaborations, short stays of promising young scholars who aim at appliying for fellowships (FWO, BOF, MSCA), and to cover the expenses for open-access and traditional publishing (including proofreading, transcriptions and translations).
