Global Material Intellectual History (GMIH) examines the intersection of intellectual traditions, material culture, and global social exchanges, exploring how ideas, knowledge, and technologies travel across boundaries. This interdisciplinary research project integrates insights from social sciences and humanities to challenge Eurocentric models of intellectual history that isolate "great ideas" from their material and social contexts. GMIH emphasizes the role of objects, commodities, technologies, and infrastructure in shaping knowledge flows, power dynamics, and cultural transformations. Crucially, it foregrounds how social movements and acts of resistance harness material and intellectual resources to contest domination and reimagine possibilities, demonstrating the intertwined nature of material and immaterial worlds in shaping human thought, agency, and collective action.
