Project description

Aim is to develop a suitable methodology for selfhealing concrete. Selfhealing encompasses (1) maintaining the impermeability and durability of the construction ("sealing"); (2) regaining mechanical properties after crack formation ("healing"). In this second term the expansive properties of hydrogels will be explored for this purpose. The self-healing concrete will also be reinforced with fibres to limit the crack width.
