The main objective of this pilot project is to strengthen the Centre of Excellence in Biomedical Engineering and e-Health (CEBE) of College of Science and Technology (CST) at University of Rwanda (UR) to conduct research on digitalizing the hospital patient trajectory and to enable the secondary use of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) in Rwanda. Through the project the UR/CST and CEBE teams will conduct a series of research activities including needs assessment and feasibility studies to improve the full patient record digitalization in selected health facilities in Rwanda. The goal is to improve the continuity of care in Rwanda by building the patient trajectory and to work on just-in-time data access and reuse for public health purposes e.g. guiding preventive policies or epidemic alerts, or real-time health indicators generation and clinical research purposes. Being a pilot project in few hospitals in Rwanda, the project will also explore the feasibility of a wide implementation throughout the country.
