The recent H5N1 crisis has resulted in a significantly increased demand for capabilities for aviaire influenza diagnosis and surveillance. The aim of Flu-Lab-Net is to share and exchange information on influenza in order to strengthen harmonisation and development of laboratory methods, coordinate research efforts and share expertise. Rapid responses to national and global emergencies with data sharing are key areas of exploitation.
