I am a professor in systematic musicology (LW17) and coordinator of the IPEM research institute and the Art and Science Interaction Lab (ASIL, www.asil.ugent.be) at Ghent University. My research focuses on embodied and social interactions with music. Using empirical-experimental and data-driven methodologies, I explore the principles underlying bodily coordination processes in music performance and listening, framed within the perspective of dynamical systems theory. Central to my work are advanced digital technologies, including immersive and 3D stimulus displays, body and brain activity measurement tools, and sophisticated data analysis techniques. Through interdisciplinary collaboration spanning art, science, and technology, I also investigate innovative approaches to cultural heritage and artistic-creative practices, emphasising technology-enhanced embodied interactions. The BOF basic financing will be used to support this research.
