Project description
Throughout history, humans coevolved with numerous intestinal microbes that have adapted to provide benefits. Modern society practices resulted in changes of this microbiota which correlate with inflammatory diseases, obesity and allergies. To counteract these diseases, one can consume functional foods. In this proposal, we will identify which microbes of the fascinating mucosal microbiota should be targeted by such functional foods.
