Project description

Silicon photonics is one of the most mature platforms for realizing photonic ICs but lacks electromechanical coupling due to Silicon’s centro-symmetry. This deprives this platform of the option to harness efficient acousto-optic interactions. In this project, we counter this deficiency by integrating our in-house developed piezoelectric thin film, Lead Zirconium Titanate (PZT), and explore highperformance MEMS based photonics devices.
