Project description

Diffusion of the physiological molecule inositol trisphosphate (IP3) via gap junctions is crucial to evoke bystander apoptosis. We here aim to explore conditions that are necessary to convert IP3 into a cell death molecule. Secondly, we will investigate bystander cell death in other cell death modalities as well as in a clinically relevant model of ischemia-reperfusion injury to cardiomyocytes.
