- Musicology and ethnomusicology
The research is divided into consolidation of existing research lines and innovation.
Consolidation means the completion of existing lines of research in music history (Russian and Eastern European music, nineteenth-century music history, and gender theory). The consolidation will culminate in a project that includes three book publications: Closer to Music, Opera and Agency in the Age of Realism, and Music as Drawing. The connection between the three publications is the revision of the results of academic musicology in terms of an experience-oriented interpretation of music.
Innovation lies in the establishment of the Jonet Chair for Musical Action and Music Making as an instrument to conduct research into the role of music in social processes. In collaboration with Prof. An De bisschop and researcher Tina Reynaert the possibilities of new research goals will be examined and new research projects prepared.
