The offshore wind industry has noticed a significant development in the last decades. Therefore, more marine operations are expected to occur in offshore wind farms. This research project aims to increase the safety aspect of the marine operations in the wind farm by means of having an accurate description of wave field around a monopile. Monopiles are the most used offshore wind turbine fondations due to its simple shape. The diameter size of monopiles has also seen to increase in the few years. Therefore, it is no longer acceptable to neglect the monopile in the marine operation procedures. The research will go into two directions where numerical method is developed and physical experiments are performed to validate the results. The estimated wave field around the monopile is then used to estimate the operation limitation around the monopile.
