Project description

Cassava is the staple food of the people of Côte d'Ivoire. This region is the commercial center of the food. However, cassava production continues using inefficient traditional varieties with low fertilization. This mode of agriculture practiced on poor soils, is less and less compatible with the continuous increase in population. The research objective of this project to increase the sustainable production of cassava through the use of nitrogen-fixing legumes, organic fertilizers and minerals and the use of different varieties to ensure food security of the population and increasing the income of producers and other actors in the sector. They also want to strengthen the capacity of research and development institutions involved in the field of integrated soil fertility management. At the end of the project will last five years, the yield of cassava and producers' incomes will be improved.
