Project description

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our times. It is already happening, impacting predominantly countries in the Southern Hemisphere. Its various impacts on health and health care - ranging from chronic and infectious diseases and mental health issues to substance use and violence - are increasingly acknowledged by the international community. Also the connection with human mobility is more and more pronounced, either as an adaptation strategy, or as forced displacement and relocation due to changed weather patterns and soil degradation. The international research network CliMigHealth, hosted by Ghent University, aims to foster our understanding of the various interactions in the ‘climate, migration and health nexus’ and aims to increase awareness on this theme. To this end, this exhibition shows the stories of people experiencing the daily impact of climate change and migration on their health, and how health facilities try to adapt to these challenges.
