Bovine mastitis or inflammation of the mammary gland is a common and expensive condition in dairy cattle worldwide.

The research of M-teamUGent focuses on the prevention and control of bovine mastitis.

To this end, we conduct both applicable research (such as implementation of selective treatment of clinical mastitis and selective drying of cows in Flanders) and more fundamental research into, among other things, the clever use of non-aureus staphylococci to prevent mastitis.
