Project description
In this jointPhD project between University of Mons (Professor Olivier Coulembier) and the Polymer Chemistry Research group at UGent, sustainable polymerization methodologies will be developed for the synthesis of novel biodegradable polyester-based materials from carbon dioxide. Via this CO2 valorization, we are exploring an innovative strategy that contributes to the transition towards a more circular economy.
This project will benefit from the exchange of an already hired PhD student (start October 1 2024) that will gather complementary expertise from the two research groups (i.e., experience in monomer synthesis from CO2 from UMons and experience in materials synthesis and photochemical reactions at UGent.
