Project description

InBio.be aims to develop sustainable, environment-friendly processes and to advance the biobased economy. New tools and microbial production hosts are developed, using market demand as a driver for strategic decisions (www.Inbio.be). Using an intergrated bioprocess design approach, strains and processes are interactively improved in order to reach industrially relevant production. InBio.be has over 20 years of experience in the production of specialty carbohydrates, biosurfactants and other specialty chemicals, while more recently, we also started focussing on bio-upcycling of plastics and carbon capture and utilisation (CCU). Public and private projects, combined with PhD research, have led to the publication of over 200 peer-reviewed articles, over 20 book chapters, 2 books  and the successful defence of ovr 30 PhDs. Finally, research was valorised in over 15 patents/ patent applications and the creation of 2 spin-off companies.
