Project description
Helicobacter heilmannii is highly prevalent in the stomach of dogs and cats which may act as a source of infection for humans. It is not known how this bacterium colonizes the stomach and how it causes disease. Therefore, the H. heilmannii genes involved in adhesion to the gastric mucosa will be identified and their role in pathogenesis will be determined.
