Project description

By means of historical cohort studies, retrospective studies, prospective cohorts studies, and systematic literature review, the research group investigates epidemiology healthcare-associated complications. This includes, among more, infections (e.g., ventilator-associated pneumonia, catheter-associated bloodstream infection, surgical site infection, etc.), pressure injuries (including device-associated pressure injuries), and mortality following the use of oral antiseptics. Within the hospital context, this study has a strong focus on intensive care unit patients because their particular at-risk profile for complications.
