Our primary focus is the architecture and development of the cardiovascular system both in domestic and wild animals. Both ongoing research colaborations (e.g. Gunther Van Loon - Ghent Equine cardiotem: fine anatomy of the structures involved in electric conductivity in the equine heart); Pablo Reyes (faculty of engineering): development of vascular corrosion casting materials, Ward De Spiegelaere (own department): CAM model in the chick embryo) and project being set up with external partners (KBIN, KULAK-KULeuven) will benifit from this support, along with other research opportunities that present themselves in the upcoming years.
