Project description

This CRA aims to improve understanding of the temporal distribution and causes of climate variability in equatorial East Africa at inter annual to millennial time scales, and of their impacts on the region's ecosystems and human environment. For this purpose we apply methods of paleoenvironmental reconstruction to a uniquely long and high-quality archive of past climate and environmental history contained in the bottom sediments of lake challa near Mt. Kilimanjaro
