Project description

The main goal of the present project is to develop more efficient and reliable impact-dynamic testing methodologies by exploiting recent advancements in test and measurement technologies, as well as improvements in modeling techniques. This initiative, referred to as Dynamic Material Testing 2.0, is founded upon two primary pillars. First, the generation of rich test datasets will be achieved through the design of optimized, non-conventional specimens and the application of advanced measurement techniques. Second, accurate models of the test specimens and corresponding test configurations, termed digital twins, will be constructed, incorporating material models capable of accurately describing the mechanical behaviour of the material under study. By integrating these extensive test datasets with the digital twins, material model parameters will be iteratively refined. The expected outcomes include not only parameters, but also potential deficiencies in the material model.
