Continuous monitoring of the structural integrity of primary components with the use of mechanical waves.  Focus is put on the use of passive monitoring techniques, such as acoustic emission. Expertise will be build regarding data acquisition,  processing and analysis, and how this can be linked to a variety of damage phenomena. This knowledge will be emploited for predicting the remaining useful lifetime of the inspected component.
