modern philosophy Spinoza natural science
The goal of the research project consists in explaining why according to Spinoza natural science is unable to tell us anything about the totality of nature, and therefore can never have the pretension to draw from its findings larger philosophical or moral conclusions. Spinoza was an early, informed critic of the moral and epistemic aspirations of natural science.
