Currently, flow cytometry is being applied for monitoring and steering of microbial systems in environmental and industrial context. This research aims to develop medical applications for microbial flow cytometry, with a focus on the oral microbiome. More specifically, applications for mechanistic research and applications for diagnosis and personalization of treatment for patients are being investigated.
