Project description

The management of pig health is a prerequisite to safeguarding animal welfare and the profitability of pig farms, public health, and reducing antimicrobial usage because pig diseases cause major problems for animal health and welfare and decrease the profitability and sustainability of the sector. The research focuses on infectious diseases in pigs, and production diseases due to suboptimal nutrition, genetics, management, and housing. Emphasis is placed on identifying risk factors, diagnostics, and proper control and preventive measures such as biosecurity and vaccination.
