Project description

We identified the Arabidopsis SMR5 gene as novel cell cycle checkpoint gene responding rapidly to DNA-damaging agents. Through a yeast one-hybrid (Y1H) approach, three proteins were isolated as SMR5 promoter-binding transcription factors. These transcription factors have been linked to root cap development. We will characterize the role of SMR5 in lateral root cap maturation in detail, both under control and DNA stress conditions.
