Project description

To better understand the pathophysiology of placentitis, we will characterize the microbiome in healthy and diseased placentae and elucidate the interactions between host, microbiome, and pathogen(s). The results will give insight in the mechanisms used by the pathogen to colonize the host tissue and the activation of the defence mechanisms of the host to overcome the infection.
