Project description

The damage induced by ionizing radiation can spread to non-exposed bystander cells. We hypothesize that an initial ROS production in the irradiated cells is transmitted via calcium waves, propagated by ATP, to neighbouring cells, were the calcium in turn induces a ROS production. Next to that we will also investigate the effect of radiation on connexin-expression and the ER-mitochondria distance.
