Project description

This project aims to study early events in the interaction of antigens/microorganisms with epithelial cells and intestinal dendritic cells (DCs). Tolerogenic (ovalbumin), immunogenic (F4 fimbriae, CT and CT-B) as well as the less immunogetic F18 fimbriae will be used as antigens and the pathogenic F4+enterotoxigenic E.coli, F18+verotoxigenic E.coli as well as the non-pathogenic E. coli HB101 and Lactococcus Lactis. A genomic wide approach with the pig microarray of Affymetrix will be used to study the early responses and dual photon-microscopy to study the passage of antigens/microorganisms through the epithelial barrier and their uptake by DCs.
