This project focuses on the social conditions of intellectual migration of foreign students to and from Brussels (1891 and 1914) and the sustainability of intellectual networks before, during and after the First World War. Cohesive subroups of students at the Université Nouvelle and the Université Libre will be identified, the effect of the presence of these foreign students and scholars will be studied and the evolution of the social and cultural infrastructure in which transnational circulation occurred will be investigated.
