Libraries of Emotions for Good project (LOE for Good) is born from the common analysis and commitment of one social organisation Love for Livres, an international NGO Bibliothèques sans Frontières, 5 European Libraries in Poland, Slovenia, Belgium and Lithuania, a European University (Ghent) and a Tunisian library in Sousse.
It consists in an innovative program of empowerment of a network of European pioneer libraries, from Ukraine to the East of Europe, from
the West of Europe to Tunisia through building capabilities, digital and live development of a ground-breaking approach. This approach is
based on cognitive sciences and reading called bibliotherapy as well as of an in-depth research-action to assess the impact of reading and
reading emotions for inclusion, mental health, as well as societal resilience.
It addresses current European challenges such as the mental health crisis, the war in Ukraine and the rise of social inequalities to transfer
knowledge, soft skills and specific tools to libraries that gather multiple audiences, involve European writers and provide a democratic, welcoming and open space for cultural diversity, civic discussions and social inclusion.
In terms of impact, LOE for Good project aims at:
- training librarians to new approaches and encourage their entrepreneurship spirit and professional development.
- designing the libraries services of tomorrow through the implementation of a bibliotherapy tech care solution for libraries users and for
readers complemented by physical device Libraries of Emotions and by bibliotherapy sessions.
- conducting the first evidence-based research of this kind in Europe to factualize the effects of bibliotherapy and to explore its relevance
and benefits at the crossroads between Culture and Health in the framework of public policies.
Multicultural, transformative and creative, the LOE for Good project highlights the power of books for a better life and for a better world.
