Arbuscular mycorrhizae sustainable tomato cultivation sugar transport regulation

Project description

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi offer a sustainable solution for nutrient deficiencies and drought during tomato cultivation. We will first identify tomato sugar transporters and sensors important in this symbiosis. We will then engineer the sugar flux between the two partners and assess the effect on mycorrhization and tomato fruit quality/development using stable transgenic tomato lines.
