Project description

The process of intestinal cell death is well-regulated to ensure homeostasis and does normally not elicit an immune response. however, a number of diseases can be attributed to problems with cell death. it is postulated that initiation ofr sustainment of these diseases may be associated with the release of damage Associated moleculatr patterns (DAMPs) by dying cells. the main goal of the current project is to develop a DAMP discovery and validation pipeline. Identification and analysis of effects exhibited by DAMPs will elucidate important mechanisms of innate immunity, and gerate novel biomarkers of cell death, inflammation and rissue regeneration.
