Project description

The objective is to develop detailed measurements of tropical tree growth archived in tree rings and to link these with life-history strategy and response of trees to their environment. The research focusses on the African forest (Democratic Republic of the Congo), where tree rings will be investigated using classical methods combined with high-end techniques resolving structural and chemical information.
