In this project an insight in the processes that affect the life cycle of lipophilic marine toxins in the North Sea is envisages. To this end, the ecological factors that influence marine toxin production using advances mass spectrometric techniques, in Dinophysis acuminata will be evaluated. Subsequently, a characterisation of all relevant marine toxins and their metabolites in shellfish is envisaged.
