In order to get some more insight into the physiological role of nucleocytoplasmic lectins in plants a detailled study of (i) the molecular structure and (ii) the carbohydrate binding properties of a few proteins will be performed. In addition the interaction between these lectins and endogenous (plant) receptor molecules will also be studied.
