Project description

My PhD is situated within a Driving Urban Transitions project, called Common_Access. This project focusses on how the 15-min city concept can be applied in urban outskirts, areas which are in rule more car dependent, have less facilities and less public transport services. In doing so, it centres on the role of “commoning accessibility and mobility” practices in accomplishing this. These are practices organised by and for a community through a self-managed and bottom-up process to provide in accessibility or mobility, often as response to a perceived lack of accessibility provided by state or market. Accessibility is seen as a fundamental good, which can be shared in. Specifically, I will look at the acceptability and acceptance towards this type of practices (for different social groups of potential users) and at travel behaviour of users of these practices. This will be done through focus group discussions and a survey.
