This research aims to study a new approach to cross-border civil status. Traditionally, this issue belongs to the field of private international law. The research envisages to examine whether the human rights approach of cross-border personal and family relations increases the cross-border portability of a certain civil status, and therefore the legal certainty and predictability for the citizens concerned.
