Project description
In this project, the hemodynamics of artificial heart valves will be studied by means of threedimensional numerical flow simulations. The numerical results are then validated using particle image velocimetry, an optical technique for measuring fluid velocities. Insights gathered will allow to minimize the occurrence of valve-relations complications inside ventricular assist devices (rupture of valve leaflets, thrombosis), and improve the durability of these devices.
