Project description

The Belgian Sexual Assault Care centres (SACC) offer holstic care (= psychosocial, medical and forensic care and if desirec also law enforcement and judicial follow-up) to victims of sexual violence in Belgium. The SACCs are being gradually scaled up from 3 to 6 SACCs in 2021 and the necessary preparations are being done to ensure a full roll-out to having 1 SACC per judicial district by 2023. Prof Keygnaert and her team offer scientific support and implement the scientific monitoring and evaluation of the sexual assault care centres, commissioned by the Belgian Secretary of State of Equality and the Institute of Equality between Women and Men who coordinate the SACCs.
