Project description

The development and safety, acceptability and efficacy evaluation of a new vaginal probiotic delivery system, more specifically fast desintegrating starch pellets layered with selected probiotic lactobacilli, to restore and to maintain the vaginal (lactobacilli-dominated) microflora. The applications of the proposed research include the prevention and treatment of: - disturbed vaginal microflora/bacterial vaginosis - ascending genital tract infection in non-pregnant and pregnant women - acquisition of sexually transmitted diseases.
